The striker admitted he would like to see the legendary No 10 take the trophy

A month later and the World Cup is almost at its end. Argentina face France at Lusail on Sunday, it’s Leo Messi vs Kylian Mbappe.

Opinions are split over who wants to win or who should win, and curiously a French striker, André-Pierre Gignac, has opted for Argentina.

“I am french but I would love for Messi to lift the World Cup because he deserves it for everything he’s done through his career, we will see what happens, but he behaves like a leader and is from a national team with a lot of character,” said Gignac on Fox Sports.

“Messi is a leader today in Argentina. They want Argentina to win the World Cup for Messi, we have to say things as they are.”

However he also celebrated France reaching the final, posting a photo on social media of himself in a France shirt with his kids.
