England 6-2 Iran: Bellingham and Saka run the show in Qatar

Gareth Southgate's side eased to victory in their World Cup opener

England opened their World Cup campaign with a 6-2 win over Iran in Qatar. 

Jude Bellingham opened the scoring to in the 35th minute after Iran had lost goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand to concussion. 

Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling then both found the net before the break as England went into half-time with a 3-0 lead. 

Saka's second then made it four just after the hour mark before Mehdi Taremi pulled one back for Iran with a good finish. 

Substitutes Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish were also on target for England before Iran added their second in second half stoppage time. 

Taremi scored his second of the game from the penalty spot after VAR spotted a shirt pull from John Stones.
