There could be a Brazil vs Argentina and Spain vs England collision course

The World Cup group phase is over and what a rollercoaster it was.

Here is how the land lies going forward, with 16 teams left in the tournament.

Netherlands face USA and Argentina play minnows Australia, with the winners meeting in the quarter-finals.

The second game of the last eight will see the winners of Japan vs Croatia and Brazil vs South Korea clash.

Gareth Southgate's England will face France in the quarters if they overcome Senegal and Poland respectively.

Meanwhile, Luis Enrique's Spain face Morocco and a date with Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal awaits, should they defeat Switzerland in the final last 16 clash.

There could be an Argentina vs Brazil semi-final, while the other might be England or France against Spain.

That said, given the number of shocks so far, anything could happen...
