Valencia midfielder Parejo says: 'The club comes before everyone else'
Parejo spoke after the Chelsea win ending days of silence among the players
Valencia captain Dani Parejo broke the squad's silence on Marcelino's sacking after Tuesday's Champions League win over Chelsea in London.
Marcelino was surprisingly sacked despite winning the Copa del Rey and leading Valencia into the Champions League, with Albert Celades replacing him.
"The situation was not the best for us (the players) to come out and speak," said Parejo in reference to the players not speaking after the Barcelona game at the weekend or before the Chelsea match.
"Maybe people don't understand that, but the situation was difficult for everyone. The best thing was silence, to play and to leave everything on the pitch."
On Marcelino, he added: "I've had a lot of coaches and have passed through this situation many times. The coach did a great job here, he will always be remembered and his name will be in the club's history.
"Now it's a new era, with a new coach. The objectives are the same: to win every game. And of course we are all with the coach until the end."
Parejo said that Valencia the club "comes before everyone else," pointing out that coaches and players come and go, but the club will always remain.
