Simeone: Apart from Madrid, the rest of the Spanish clubs struggle

Atletico Madrid managed to solve the European clash against Feyenoord with another comeback, despite the difficulties they were subjected to. Simeone's side, with Morata in exceptional form, have made a better start than last season, but the Champions League remains their unfinished business.

At the end of the match, the Rojiblancos coach wanted to evaluate the performance of the Spanish teams in the top European competition: "They had a higher intensity. Maybe the Spanish championship is lower than the other European championships. And we are one of the teams that play in Spain and we are suffering when we go to Europe". To which he added "for me, except for Real Madrid, which in recent years has managed to compete in Europe, because it has extraordinary young players, I think that all the other teams have a hard time. Today we managed to overcome that scenario of vertigo, despite all the adversities".

Nor did he miss the opportunity to imply that the week's fixture load makes the victory even more meritorious: "I am proud of the players I have, they are making a huge effort. We suffered in the last stretch and what was bound to happen was fatigue. We won an important match against a fast, dynamic opponent and everything we saw in the previous videos".
