Lucho will be replaced on the bench by his assistant, Robert Moreno
Spain coach Luis Enrique will not be on the bench for Tuesday's game against Malta due to family reasons. The Royal Spanish Football Federation have confirmed that the former Barça boss will miss the Euro 2020 qualifier for family reasons.
"Luis Enrique will be absent from Tuesday's game due to a major family issue," the RFEF said. "We ask for you discretion at this time and that you respect his privacy."
The RFEF confirmed at the same time that Lucho's No.2, Robert Moreno, will take charge of the game against Malta at the Ta'Qali stadium.
It's Spain's second game during the current international break and their second Euro 2020 qualifier. They kicked off with a win over Norway at Valencia's Mestalla home on Saturday.
