The PSG forward struck in the 13th minute and La Roja held on from there

Barcelona midfielder Gavi was once again one of the stand out performers

Spain registered their first win of the latest UEFA Nations League competition as they beat Switzerland 1-0 on Thursday.

Pablo Sarabia scored the only goal of the game in the 13th minute as Spain picked up the three points in Geneva.

Luis Enrique's side have five points from their opening three games following draws with Portugal and Czech Republic.

Portugal, who beat Czech Republic 2-0 on Thursday, top the group with seven points, while the Czechs have four points and Switzerland are yet to get off the mark.

Spain made eight changes to the size that drew 2-2 with Czech Republic last time out, with four Barcelona players handed starts.

Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Gavi and Ferran Torres were all in the XI in Switzerland.

The deadlock was broken by PSG's Sarabia, though, when he got on the end of a cross from Atletico Madrid's Marcos Llorente.

Gavi treated fans to some moments of real skill but there was a lack of real goal mouth action overall, although the home side did push forward late on.

They could not muster more than one shot on target, however, and failed to take advantage of some erratic play late on from Unai Simon and Diego Llorente.
