Spain 3-1 Kosovo: La Roja win out as Pedri starts again

There was a kerfuffle as the national broadcasters lowercased 'kos' on the scoreboard

Spain earned a more comfortable win than against Georgia in Seville as Pedri started again for La Roja in this World Cup 2022 qualifier.

The Barcelona man put in another good showing and helped guide the team to victory.

Dani Olmo sent Spain ahead in the 34th minute with a brilliant strike. The RB Leipzig forward was fed by Jordi Alba, who claimed another assist, and curled the ball into the far top corner with finesse.

Ferran Torres continued his fine Spain form with the second goal, finishing brilliantly from the right.

Kosovo pulled a goal back when Unai Simon blundered, way out of his area, and Halimi capitalised to score.

However Gerard Moreno nodded in a quick response to keep Spain’s two goal lead and put them top of Group B for now, ahead of Sweden by a point, albeit having played an extra game.

The game was noteworthy for the fact that Spain do not officially recognise Kosovo as a country. The national broadcasters TVE wrote 'kos' with lower case to Spain's ESP on the scoreboard.
