The Atletico Madrid midfielder spoke to SPORT ahead of the England game

Ahead of Spain's game against England in Seville on Monday in the UEFA Nations League, Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez sat down with SPORT...

There's the sensation that Spain have changed a lot in these last few matches...

They've been really good games, but we have to stay grounded. The message we have to send is to stay calm, although it's also true that if we beat England, we're in the Final Four. Spain have changed, with a new coach, and we're in good form.

What has Luis Enrique added?

Aside from the excitement and ambition, which is tremendous, we have some rules, which (the press) have put out like they're something new, when in reality it's not in the world in football. So I would highligh the ambition and the motivation which he transmits, which can be seen on the pitch.

You're a box-to-box player, as they say in England. Do you identify with Luis Enrique's style?

With the national team, we have a clear philosophy, to have the ball, create space and damage the opposition. It's something which works well for us. It's clear we have other options, different types of players, too, and that's positive.

Luis Enrique said you're a better version of him as a player. What do you think?

I remember Luis Enrique as a player perfectly and, honestly, if I have to compare myself with him, I would like it to be for his characterm what he transmitted on the pitch. In that aspect, I would like to be like him.

What do Luis Enrique and Cholo Simeone have in common?

The motivation and hunger to win. Both get through to the players well, each in their own style. To give an example: I can come here thinking that I want to play like Cholo, then Luis Enrique speaks to me about his philosophy and convinces me that I must play another way because it helps to win the game. Then, I go back with Cholo, and the same thing happens. In my head I have the national team's way of playing, touch football, and (Cholo) tells you that you have to do this and another thing and you also win. They transmit what they want and you believe in them. It's a skill they have.

Is it not difficult to go from Atletico's style to Spain's?

It's not tough for me because the national team philosophy is always the same. From the youth teams to the senior team it's the same and that makes the adaption easier. I am lucky enough to have played in every category. I have always played different styles and I feel comfortable in both, with Atletico and Spain.
