The Barça defender had a knee problem and left training early

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique provided a scare during Spain training on Monday as he quit training early with a knee proble,. The RFEF, though, says it's nothing serious.

Pique, who was training normally with his international teammates, has to leave the session in a hurry. The Catalan centre-back sought permission after noticing pain in his left knee and as a precaution left training.

It was Spain's third session at their base in Krasnodar. The only absentee was Dani Carvajal, who is unlikely to be fit in time for Friday's World Cup opener against Portugal.

With just four days to go until that game, coach Julen Lopetegui didn't want to take any risks, which is why Pique quickly disappeared from the session.

Along with Sergio Ramos, the Barça player has been a key player for Spain in the middle of the back four for a number of years now.

The fact La Roja's first game is against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal means it's important to be able to count on their first choice centre-back pairing.
