Luis de la Fuente's justification of his applause of Rubiales' speech

Luis de la Fuente, the coach of the Spanish national men's team, released a statement where he strongly criticized the "inappropriate and out-of-place behavior" of Luis Rubiales, the President of the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation), following the conclusion of the Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The statement contradicted what had happened during Rubiales' appearance at the extraordinary assembly of the RFEF. The Spanish coach had applauded president Rubiales' speech several times, which seemed like a clear show of support.

Despite that, recent reports suggest that Luis de la Fuente did not actually agree with Rubiales' messages. According to journalist Antón Meana from 'Cadena SER', Luis de la Fuente believes he was deceived because he thought Rubiales was going to resign during the assembly.

Furthermore, the Spanish coach thinks that the TV production managed by the RFEF deliberately focused on him to give more prominence to the president's argument. According to this information, at present, Luis de la Fuente feels misled and believes he was part of a setup.

The Spanish outlet adds that various regional federation presidents believe that Luis de la Fuente should continue leading the Spanish men's team and, under no circumstances, is there consideration for the resignation of the Basque coach.
