Luis de la Fuente hails Gavi's fighting spirit

In the press conference prior the Spanish national team facing Norway, Luis de la Fuente reassured Barcelona fans about Gavi's physical condition. The midfielder from Los Palacios y Villafranca pulled out of a La Roja training session at the start of the training camp and two days later played 90 minutes, with his usual intensity, in the 2-0 win over Scotland at La Cartuja.

"He stopped training because of a knock, as a precaution," he responded to the question posed by SPORT. The coach also claimed that the Barça player's enthusiasm on the pitch is "contagious" and "exceptional". "The ratio of cards he has with us is very low. He's only had one yellow card. He must learn to control himself at some point. With us he does," he reflected.

De la Fuente insisted on "that fighting spirit" that he passes on to his teammates. The coach from La Rioja said that he is "delighted with his performances" and "calm" about his physical condition. Although he has not revealed whether he will start or not, everything suggests that Gavi will be very important in the match against Erling Haaland's Norway, a game in which Spain will have the opportunity to mathematically secure their participation at Euro 2024.
