Luis Enrique: "Koeman? I'm not affected by pressure"

The Spain head coach made it clear that the decision to leave Pedri out was "a personal decision"

Luis Enrique has spoken this afternoon about the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Sweden (02/09), Georgia (05/09) and Kosovo (08/09).

As expected, Pedri was not called up for this squad. Last week, Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman publicly announced that the player would be heading off on a 15-day break which would allow him to recharge his batteries after his summer exploits. However, according to Luis Enrique, he did not consider this announcement to be an attempt to influence his decision: "There are very few things that affect me. I understand different points of view, but you must realise that they do not affect [my decisions]. I'm more than happy for coaches or players to call me, but they do not change my opinion. Only I decide what is best for the players and the national side. It is a personal decision".

Despite playing in this summer's Olympics, Luis Enrique called up Barcelona centre back Eric García because he "played relatively little" for Manchester City last season.
