Luis de la Fuente strong with his thoughts on Gavi

Gavi is a different kind of player who, while still a youngster, has earned the right to rub shoulders with players who have been established in the elite for many years. He does so at Barça and also in the Spanish national team, both with Luis Enrique, who did not hesitate to take him to the senior team despite the criticism he received at the time for it, and now with Luis de la Fuente, who is delighted with him.

The Spanish coach, in the press conference prior to the match that Spain will play this Tuesday against Scotland, spoke at length about Gavi and did so to explain that he had a chat with him during La Roja's training camp and, in addition, he also revealed the content of it. 

The first thing De la Fuente did before the media was to analyse the player from a footballing point of view. He was full of praise: "Gavi is a player with many resources, versatile, useful all over... he feels more comfortable playing interior, but football can take you to other positions. He is a fantastic player at all levels. We haven't seen his best version of what he will be in the future," said the coach, who sees plenty of room for improvement, which is logical given his young age. 

He also spoke about his personality and way of understanding football: "Gavi, in this process of maturity, one of the virtues he has is courage, genius and energy. However, he understands that now he is showing "some behaviours that are not beneficial for him and the team", although he has no doubt that "with maturity, he will understand that."

The Spain coach understands that time will put everything in its place, but he will spare no effort to ensure that Gavi's energy, which at some points may seem excessive, is managed in the best possible way: "We have talked about it and with the passage of time he will get it under control. Give me Gavi with this desire and drive, it's contagious for the rest."
