The 17 year old midfielder was a surprise pick in the squad and he is in the XI now

Luis Enrique has picked Gavi in his starting line up for Spain against Italy in the Nations League semi-final on Wednesday night.

The Barcelona midfielder, 17, will become his country’s youngest ever starter. He joins team-mate Sergio Busquets in midfield, while Marcos Alonso and Pablo Sarabia also come into the side.

Lucho has had to make some changes because he has a lot of players out injured.

Pedri, Marcos Llorente, Soler, Gaya, Alba, Moreno and Morata are not fit to face Italy so weren’t including in the squad.

The team he has picked is: Unai Simón; Azpilicueta, Laporte, Pau Torres, Marcos Alonso; Busquets, Koke, Gavi; Oyarzabal, Ferran Torres and Sarabia.
