Gavi breaks Ansu Fati's record to become Spain's youngest scorer ever

The Barcelona midfielder scored in his country's 2-2 draw with Czech Republic on Sunday

Gavi was one of three players to start for Spain against Czech Republic on Sunday that also started against Portugal three days ago, along with Pablo Sarabia and Unai Smon.

Luis Enrique had warned before the game that the Barcelona midfielder was capable of scoring more goals and his response could not have been more appropriate. When Spain were struggling against the Czechs in Prague, Gavi levelled the game at 1-1 just before the break.

"He does not just run, he's so dangerous with the ball. He's a pure interior and you will see that in the future," Luis Enrique said.

The future is now because Gavi took 45 minutes to prove his coach right by scoring his first international goal in eight appearances -- and breaking a record in the process.

Gavi becomes Spain's youngest ever goal scorer, taking the record from Ansu Fati. Gavi's goal came at 17 years and 304 days old, while Ansu scores his first at 17 years and 311 days. One week difference.

The UEFA Nations League game ended 2-2, with Spain equalising for a second time late in the game through defender Iñigo Martinez.
