La Roja have now won three games out of three in the qualification phase but will face a tougher test on Monday when they host unbeaten Sweden in Madrid.

With Luis Enrique still absent for personal reasons, his staff took control once again, with Sergio Ramos heading home an Isco corner early on to open the scoring.

Spain were dominant, with the returning Santi Cazorla and Barcelona's Sergi Roberto controlling the play and the pace of the full-backs causing problems.

Spain doubled their lead when Iago Aspas set up right-back Jesus Navas after 19 minutes but the home side grabbed a goal back on the half-hour mark,  Klaemint Olsen finding the net.

Real Madrid Isco was impressing by now, though, and his delivery led to Spain's third goal four minutes after the Faroe Islands had scored. Teitur Gestsson put the ball past his own goalkeeper.

It could have been more from then on but Spain eventually eased off, only adding one more goal in the second half through Valencia left-back Jose Luis Gaya.
