The Spain midfielder praised his team-mate, who had received some criticism

Carlos Soler was one of the few positive notes for Spain from their defeat by Sweden in World Cup qualifying. The Valencia midfielder scored in the 2-1 defeat. He spoke to Superdeporte about various issues, including dedicating some nice words to Eric Garcia, who was criticised in the defeat.

“He will give a lot to Barcelona and Spain both now and in the future,” said Soler. “I met Eric in the Olympics, he’s a great guy, as a person, close, humble. This season he signed for Barcelona and I’m sure he’ll do a good job, he has the ability and quality. He deserves it, he’s a good guy and with a lot of room to improve too.”

On Pedri, who he also got to know at the Olympics, he added: “As a person and player he’s a 10, he has a lot of room to improve, obviously, because he’s very young. He’s shown he can play at a great level and I’m sure he’ll keep doing so. I’m delighted it’s going well for him and I hope it goes phenomenally.”
