Pedri, Mingueza and Eric García all start for Spain against Egypt

Pedri, Óscar Mingueza and Eric García, the three FC Barcelona players called up to represent Spain in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, all feature in Luis de la Fuente's first starting line-up of the tournament.

Pedri, who was named best young player at the recent European Championships and also named in the team of the tournament, will seek to control the tempo from the middle of the park, where he will play alongside fellow midfielders Mikel Merino and Dani Ceballos. Eric García will line up alongside Pau Torres at centre back, while Óscar Mingueza will start at right back.

De la Fuente's first starting line-up of the tournament includes six players who represented the Spanish senior team at the European Championships: Pedri, Oyarzabal, Dani Olmo, Pau Torres, Eric García and Unai Simón. Mingueza, Miranda, Merino, Ceballos and Asensio are the other players who make up the starting XI. The head coach has already stated that he will give a prominent role to the players who helped seal Spain's qualification for the Olympics.
