The youngster could cap an incredible year by earning his first senior cap for the national team

Ansu Fati has been named in Luis Enrique’s latest Spain squad. It caps an incredible year for the La Masia graduate, who broke into Barça’s first team at the start of the season and could now finish the campaign with his first senior cap for Spain.

Sergio Busquets is the only other Barça representative in the squad. Jordi Alba isn’t included as youth takes priority for Spain going into the UEFA Nations League matches against Germany and Ukraine.

Two former La Masia graduates are in the squad though. Eric Garcia (Manchester City) and Adama Traore (Wolves) are both in line to pick up their first international appearances at senior level after impressive campaigns for their respective teams.

Luis Enrique clearly feels now is the time to focus on the next generation of talent coming through rather than relying on older, more experienced players. Unai Simon (Athletic Club) is rewarded for his fine form in LaLiga. Mikel Moreno (Real Sociedad), Oscar Rodriguez (Real Madrid) and Ferran Torres (Manchester City) also make the list.

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Kepa, Unai Simón

Defenders: Navas, Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Pau Torres, Diego Llorente, Gayà, Reguilón, Eric Garcia

Midfielders: Fabián, Thiago, Busquets, Rodri, Mikel Merino, Dani Olmo, Oscar Rodríguez

Forwards: Rodrigo, Mikel Oyarzabal, Adama Traoré, Marco Asensio, Ansu Fati y Ferran Torres
