Alvaro Morata: The Pedri and Gavi thing is amazing

He can't believe how good the Barcelona duo are already in midfield

Spain face Greece on Thursday and it could have a big impact on their hopes for qualifying for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. They’ll do so with Gavi in the team, while Pedri won’t be there because of injury.

The two Barcelona youngsters have been put into Luis Enrique’s midfield and not looked out of place.

Pedri debuted on March 25, 2001, in the 1-1 draw with Greece. He’s not left the team since virtually, becoming the youngest player to represent Spain at the Euros, at 18 years old, six months and 18 days.

Gavi broke more records too, playing at 17 years and 62 days in the Nations League semi-final against Italy, Spain’s youngest player ever, beating a record set by Angel Zubieta in 1936.

“It’s amazing, because when I was 17 it was really hard to even train with the first team. You see Pedri and Gavi and it’s like they are 32. It’s crazy,” said Alvaro Morata. “I asked Gavi where he lived and he told me in La Masia, because he just turned 17. Bloody hell!”
