Madrid's women's side have made huge improvements in recent seasons since launching

The Royal Spanish Football Federation announced the dismissal of Jorge Vilda as senior national team coach. In doing so, the Madrid-born coach brought to an end a period that began in 2015 as head coach of a team with which he won the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

After his dismissal, the coach has given several interviews where he has made it clear that his dismissal has been unfair: "I'm as well as I can be, but I think I've been unfairly dismissed."

In an interview on 'Radio Marca', he also gave clues about his professional future. Vilda was asked about what job he will be doing from now on and whether he sees himself as Real Madrid women's team coach in the future. The former Spain coach replied that "I would love to coach the best teams and Madrid are one of the best."

He was also asked about Madrid's move into women's football. "They are doing well, there is a good core of national players, with a great dressing room and it reflects the international players that the national team has, as well as players who came through the youth ranks and who triumphed at the World Cup," Vilda said.

Vilda has not closed the door on the possibility of coaching Madrid in the future, although it seems a very distant option at the moment.
