The RFEF are moving ahead with plans despite the furor around the squad

The Royal Spanish Football Federation [RFEF] has issued an official statement detailing travel plans for Spain's UEFA Nations League games against Sweden and Switzerland.

It comes after all the fuss over the travel of the players called up between Madrid and Valencia, with a change of destination in between.

Many of the 23 players did not expect to be called up after making themselves unavailable until further changes are made at the RFEF.

However, once called up, they face a possible fine or even a ban from club football if they refuse to join up with the national team.

In the meantime, to try and limit the media access, there was confusion over whether the RFEF had cited the players for a training camp in Valencia or Madrid.

Finally, the RFEF have cleared things up.

This is the full statement:

"The Spanish Women's National Team will meet this Tuesday, 19 September 2023 at the Tryp Alameda Hotel in Madrid to prepare for the first two UEFA Women's Nations League matches against Sweden and Switzerland.

"The expedition will travel to Oliva, Valencia, on [Tuesday] afternoon to begin training for the first match of the season. The Spanish team will travel to Sweden on Thursday and will face the home team on Friday at 18:30 at the Gamla Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg.

"They will return to Spain on Friday, 22 September, arriving at Seville Airport. On Sunday, 24 September, they will travel to Cordoba to continue preparations for the second Nations League match against Switzerland at the Estadio Nuevo El Arcángel on Tuesday, 26 September, at 21:00.

"The first training camp of the season will come to an end on Wednesday, 27 September 2023."
