Following Jennifer Hermoso's strong statement calling for the resignation of Luis Rubiales, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has taken action, announcing its intention to pursue legal measures to defend the honourability of the president.

According to the RFEF's statement: "The RFEF wishes to communicate to the public that the competent bodies of the RFEF, responsible for processing the complaints filed with the Federation, have attempted to contact Ms. Jennifer Hermoso, but these attempts have been unsuccessful."

The RFEF further declares its intent to take all appropriate legal actions in defence of the honourability of the President of the RFEF. The president has unequivocally and clearly presented the facts regarding the contentious issues that have led to widespread criticism from segments of society.

The statement, quoting Jennifer Hermoso, reads: "I want to clarify that, as seen in the images, at no point did I consent to the kiss that was forced upon me, and certainly, I never attempted to lift the president. I do not tolerate my word being questioned, and even less so the fabrication of words I have not uttered."

In a state governed by the rule of law, as the president has asserted, opinions are countered with facts and evidence, and falsehoods are addressed in the courts.

The RFEF president has endeavored to handle this matter with utmost respect towards the players and institutions. He has only publicly addressed the situation and presented his side of the story when an untenable red line has been crossed.

The president's account of events is supported by internal records that have been opened. To date, Ms. Jennifer Hermoso has not responded to any of the inquiries made."
