Zinedine Zidane: I won't take a rapid decision over my future

The coach may not stay on for another year at the helm of Real Madrid

Real Madrid didn’t pull off the miracle. A crazy final week where both they and Atletico came from behind to win left the Rojiblancos as the winners of the title. Madrid won no trophies.

Zinedine Zidane’s future is uncertain and the coach could leave before the last year of his contract was up.

“I’m responsible for what has happened this season,” he said. “I won’t take a rapid decision (about my future).

“The important thing is not me, it’s everything that the players have done through the year. We have to congratulate them and think with time, with calm. I’ll speak to the club later on, not now. Today’s a day to congratulate my players.

“After the game we have to look at what we’ve done this season. In the coming days we will talk to the club and the right people. We’ll see what happens, not just with me but with everything Madrid have to do for next season.

“We have to congratulate Atletico Madrid, they deserve it because they are up there and have had a great season.”
