Madrid continue to be battered by injuries. Injuries to Carvajal, Marcelo and Theo have forced Nacho into playing at full-back and seen Zidane give Achraf his debut. The coach is thinking about adding to his squad to bolster the position, with Bayern Munich defender David Alaba the main objective.

His versatility, seeing him play at left-back, centre-back or even midfield, makes him one of the most complete defenders in the world. Varane and Vallejo's injury problems at centre-back add to the need for a new defender.

Madrid have had Alaba in mind for a while, trying in the summer but unable to convince the Bavarians to sell.
