Zidane: There's no luck in football, you have to work for everything

"Fighting to the end to get three points is in our DNA at Madrid"

"Isco's a great player and he's shown Madrid is where he belongs"

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is tired of his side being labelled as 'lucky' and said as much after Saturday's 3-2 win over Sporting Gijon.

Not for the first time this season, Madrid picked up all three points via a late goal, leading to more claims about Madrid's luck.

They are now six points ahead of Barcelona -- who play Real Sociedad later on Saturday -- and welcome their title rivals to the Bernabeu next Sunday.

"In football there's no luck," Zidane said in his post game press conference. "There's lot of hard work, effort in every game, every moment, every ball.

"You must make your own luck. They had two chances and two goals. In the end it is a well-deserved result.

"We know that with the team we have we can do damage to any team and fighting to the end to get three points is in our DNA at Real Madrid."

The French coach also spoke about two-goal hero Isco, who is out of contract next season and has been linked with an exit.

He said: "Isco is a great player and he has shown that Madrid is where he belongs. He has shown with his performance that he is a great player.

"If I have been unfair to Isco I have been unfair to all who do not play. In the end we are 24 players and everyone can play outside of Real Madrid.

"This is the difficulty of this position, to put good players on the bench from time to time."
