Ronaldo let Benzema take a penalty against Alaves on Saturday

The Madrid coach liked the touch from the Portuguese forward

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane praised Cristiano Ronaldo's "incredible" gesture after the Portugal forward handed over a penalty to Karim Benzema.

Ronaldo had scored twice and was on a hat-trick against Alaves but instead let team-mate Benzema take on spot kick duties after Gareth Bale was fouled.

Benzema converted from 12 yards to earn Madrid a 4-0 win, with Bale also on target as the BBC returned to form, scoring in the same match for the first time in nearly two years.

"This is a team and Ronaldo's gesture for Karim was a nice detail," Zidane said. "I am happy. We have scored four goals and we have kept a clean sheet.

"The atmosphere in the dressing room is important for me. We've had some tough moments, but this dressing room is the best.

"Ronaldo's gesture was incredible. Karim was great today and he deserved a goal. That shows there are good vibes among the team."

Zidane added: "The BBC have always been there. We want all our players to be 100 percent. Those three and Lucas Vazquez were very good today."

On Bale, who has been dropped for a couple of important games recently, the French coach said: "Bale played a great game. He played for 90 minutes in a position which he hasn't played in a while and it worked well. He caused problems for Alexis. I wanted to see him in this position."
