Zidane: Paris Saint-Germain game is not a final for me
The Madrid coach doesn't want to talk about his future
His job could be on the line if Madrid go out of the Champions League
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane appeared relaxed as he previewed his side's Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, saying that he doesn't feel added pressure with his job on the line if Los Blancos are eliminated.
"It's not a final for me," said Zidane while smiling. "It's one of two Champions League games that we have against PSG and what we have to do and what interest me is play good football because with the team we have we've got a good chance of going through."
GUTI, HIS REPLACEMENT?
Zidane had to speak about Guti, who has openly confessed that he would be delighted to take the Real Madrid job when Zidane moves on.
"Yes, I think he's capable [of doing the job]," Zidane said. "It's what he's doing, preparing to coach Real Madrid one day. He's doing well. I don't think he's a bad coach, he's always been at the club and it's his dream to achieve it one day. Why not?"
Many feel Zidane's future depends on Madrid's success in Europe: "Honestly, I'm not thinking about my future but about the game against PSG. The rest I cannot control. All I can do it prepare for the game. The games and training is what's important to me, the future doesn't matter."
THE BBC?
As is usual, Zidane didn't give any clues as to who will play against PSG: "What interests me is that my team are focused on the game. You will see tomorrow if the BBC (Bale, Benzema and Cristiano) all play. For me, the system is not important, but how we're going to play."
"Cristiano-Neymar"
True to his style, Zidane didn't want to reduce the fixture to a battle between the two teams' biggest stars: Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.
"We are talking about two great players but tomorrow it's PSG against Madrid, it's not Cristiano against Neymar," he said. "I am not going to compare them now.
"Cristiano has achieved extraordinary things, he's won five Ballon d'Ors... We all know what Neymar does and what he achieves on the pitch. He has a lot of quality, he can make the difference, but this is Real Madrid against PSG."
