Zidane on new Ronaldo contract: I hope he ends his career here like I did

The Real Madrid boss is delighted the forward has extended his stay in the Spanish capital

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is delighted with Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract renewal at the club

“I’m happy with Cristiano’s renewal. He has to end his career here. Cristiano is unique. His dream is end his career here, I’m happy for him and I hope he can end his career in a Los Blancos shirt like I did,” the French coach said.

Zidane was also happy with Madrid’s performance against Leganes: “We played well. We struggled a little early on, but when we got the goal everything changed. The first half was a little complicated, but the rival always makes it tough.”

He was also happy to see Luka Modric return to come on as a second half substitute after missing p period through injury. The Croatian was given a standing ovation from the Madrid crowd when he warmed up and then when he replaced Mateo Kovacic.

The coach was finally asked about the next league game, the derby against Atletico Madrid at the Calderon. Zidane highlighted that “winning against Leganes doesn’t mean we will win the derby. There’s an international break now, many players will go with their countries and we don’t know what will happen.”
