Mauricio Pochettino is a huge admirer of the Real Madrid youngster but Los Blancos aren't keen on letting him go

After running into difficulties over a transfer for Paul Pogba, Real Madrid have now switched targets to Christian Eriksen. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is valued at €100m by the Premier League club unless Madrid want to include a player going the other way.

Eriksen has been linked with Madrid for a while now but negotiations have barely got past the initial stages. The fact Zinedine Zidane prefers Pogba being the latest reason they've cooled their interest in the Danish man.

Pogba remains the 'Plan A' for Zidane and Florentino Perez but Eriksen is the backup option. Whilst he is willing to dig deep for Pogba, he won't do the same for Eriksen as he's only got 12 months to run on his current deal.

Spurs have asked for Marco Asensio to be included in a potential transfer but Madrid, for now, aren't keen on letting such a promising youngster go despite his poor campaign last time out.
