The Madrid press have been critical of several players after Madrid's latest loss

Zidane was also called into question for a lack of in-game management

Various Real Madrid players have been singled out for criticism after the 2-1 loss to Girona. The defeat at Montilivi against the newly promoted side has been put down to a lack of attitude, while coach Zinedine Zidane has not escaped the critics, either.

Marcelo, Kroos, Modric, Benzema and even Cristiano Ronaldo are some of the players in the firing line for their performances in Girona on Sunday. They've been named as some of the players responsible for Madrid falling eight points behind Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

They have all been accused of a lack of attitude, their form called into question. Marcelo's not at his best, Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane make more errors than expected and Ronaldo's obsession with goals is seeing him forget about the team.

While Marcelo is not yet back in peak fitness, in midfield, Modric and Kroos have struggled for form at times.

In attack, Benzema is struggling to score goals -- he has just two in La Liga this season.

Finally, Ronaldo deserves a special mention. He has scored just once in the league so far and recently, as was the case in Girona, he is disappearing from games. Madrid depend too much on him getting it right in front of goal.

AS FOR Zidane...

Meanwhile, Zidane has not escaped criticism. He has been accused of not managing games correctly and making poor substitutions and changes during matches -- as was the case in Girona.
