The Madrid media cavern hide Real's colours when dealing with the 'Ronaldo Case'

All the major newspapers show Ronaldo in Portugal colours

The power Florentino Perez has over the press remains intact

Florentino Perez has not been able to 'stop' the prosecutors, who have brought charges against Cristiano Ronaldo for defrauding the authorities an alleged €14.7 million. But the powerful Real Madrid president still controls the media cavern. His power is still intact among the Madrid press. That's the only way it can be understood that not a single Madrid shirt is present in a single report on Ronaldo's problems with the tax office.

It's spectacular to compare the newspapers edited in Madrid with how they treated Messi and how they're now dealing with Ronaldo. Beyond just the matter of the front covers (infinitely less strong than they were with the Barça player), the most interesting thing is that the Portugal international is not wearing a Real Madrid shirt in any of the images used. Always a Portugal one. On the covers of AS and Marca, Ronaldo is their main news story, but in both cases is wearing Portugal colours.

EL PAÍS feature the Ronaldo story in a smaller section, while on page 33, Ronaldo appears in Portugal training gear. El Mundo feature Ronaldo in a reduced space on the cover, once again in Portugal training wear and inside all three pages feature him wearing Portugal kit.

NOT ON THE COVER

As for ABC, the 'Ronaldo Case' doesn't even make the cover, with Mariano Rajoy the bigger story. Inside, two pages, yes, dressed in Portugal's kit once again. in La Razon, Ronaldo's tax evasion case is also omitted from the cover. Inside there's a report on it... with a photograph of the player with Portugal.

The Real Madrid colours do not exist for the media cavern when it comes to dealing with the supposed tax evasion of Ronaldo. When it was Lionel Messi (whose tax evasion was three times less than Ronaldo's at €4.1m), he was an all the covers in a Barça shirt. Coincidence? Or the influence of Florentino Perez? Judge for yourselves...
