Storm Filomena and Osasuna freeze out Real Madrid in 0-0 draw

Los Blancos drew blanks at El Sadar in a difficult night with testing conditions

Real Madrid suffered a freeze-out in Osasuna because of Storm Filamena and a lack of creativity.

The weather was bad; heavy snow and an icy snap in Spain led to 40 people working to keep El Sadar ready to play at tonight. Madrid were left on the runway last night waiting to disembark and all round it was an ill-fated trip for Los Blancos.

After Atletico’s game at Athletic was postponed it gave Madrid the chance to go top of the table by one point, but Atletico would have three matches in hand.

They could not find a way past Osasuna, though, Jagoba Arrasate’s side so well organised it was impossible to break down, for Zinedine Zidane, anyway.

They didn’t get a single shot on target in the first half, and it wasn’t until Marco Asensio curled an effort at goal in the second that they troubled Herrera in the Osasuna net.

Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos had goals ruled out for offside late on but in general Madrid were toothless.

Roberto Torres should have won it for the hosts but fired wildly over the bar after a nice little move with Ruben Garcia.

Atletico stay top of the table by a point, while Barcelona have closed the gap on Madrid to three.
