The European champions may come up against an old enemy if Lucho gets Blues job

Luis Enrique Martínez is travelling to London accompanied by his good friend and agent Iván de la Peña and could become Chelsea manager in the next few hours, according to a report in 'Jijantes'.

The former Barça coach and ex-Spanish national team coach recently explained that his desire is to coach a Premier League team and it seems that the opportunity has arisen after the dismissal of Graham Potter as coach of the London team.

Chelsea, who yesterday played out a goalless draw with Liverpool with Catalan Bruno Saltor in the dugout as interim manager, had Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked a few weeks ago by Bayern Munich, at the top of the managerial shortlist, but it looks like the Asturian could have won the day.

If Luis Enrique's move to Chelsea is confirmed, it would add to the excitement of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the English side and Real Madrid on 12 and 18 April.

Luis Enrique, who played for Real Madrid between 1991 and 1996, was considered a traitor by Real Madrid fans after his move to Barça on a free transfer in 1996. He became one of the most beloved players at the Camp Nou until he retired in 2004 in the Blaugrana colours.

He then began his coaching career by managing Barça's reserve team for three seasons and returned to the club, after spells on the bench at Roma and Celta, to coach the first team in 2014. He coached Barça for three seasons, becoming one of the scourges of Madrid and winning one Champions League, one Club World Cup, one European Super Cup, two La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey and one Spanish Super Cup.

His last post was as Spain coach, which he left after the last World Cup in Qatar. His clashes with the Madrid press were a constant during his years as coach.
