Sergio Ramos on damage control after he admits to breaking the rules
The defender tried to defuse the situation by later claiming he didn't actively try to get booked against Ajax
Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, had a different story to tell on social media after earlier admitting he picked up a booking on purpose against Ajax. This was so he had a "clean slate" for the next round of fixtures, assuming Madrid progress past Ajax.
However UEFA will have seen the player's interview and he's set to be hit with an extended ban.
"In a match there is a lot of tension, feelings and reactions. You have seconds to make a decision. The best part of today was the result. The worst, not being able to play alongside my teammates in the return leg," is what Ramos put on Twitter. He later added: "I also want to make it clear that it hurts me more than anyone. I didn't deliberately get booked. Just as I didn't against Roma in the previous match. I'll support my team from the stands like another fan and dream of making the quarter finals."
