The Real Valladolid coach bemoaned a lack of luck in loss to Real Madrid

Real Valladolid coach Sergio González lamented a lack of his fortune as his side were beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Valladolid hit the woodwork twice and had the better chances before an own goal and a penalty condemned them to defeat in the last 10 minutes.

Sergio was especially disappointed with the first goal. He says Vinicius Jr's shot, which was turned home by a Valladolid defender, was going miles wide.

"If a shot is heading out for a throw-in and then hits a defender and goes in, then there is luck involved," he said. "But I focus on my own team, I'm happy and proud about how they played.

"It is hard to take the defeat given how we played, but we have to move on and be happy with how we played, even with that feeling of what might have been."

Sergio explained why his side were able to cause so many problems: "We knew that once you get past Madrid's initial press, with two or three passes, you will get time to move the ball around and play your football."
