Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score 100 goals in Europe as he notched a brace against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
His double helped Real Madrid to a Champions League quarter-final first leg victory, notching the first with a volley after a Dani Carvajal cross and stabbing the second past Manuel Neuer from Marco Asensio’s low ball.
Ninety-seven of his century came in the Champions League, as well as one in UCL qualifying and two in the European Super Cup. The 32-year-old had not scored for 659 minutes in Europe before he equalised against Bayern.
"I don't know who doubted me," said the Portuguese hitman. ”The people who love Cristiano never had any doubts. You'd have to tell me who kept doubting as it never reached me.
"The team reacted very well, it is not easy to play here, against a very difficult team. Even losing at the break, we had a good feeling for the second half. We played very well, we scored early and the game became easier.
"The victory is deserved although it leaves things very open for the return game."
