The Brazilian believes that maybe Bale took his anger out on the wrong person, but believes the frustration he's feeling is understandable

Rivaldo has come out in defence of Gareth Bale after the winger has faced fresh criticism following his reaction to scoring the winner against Levante. The Copa Clasico takes place on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu and the Brazilian was speaking ahead of that match.

"I don't believe Bale is a bad teammate or a bad person, which is what I've seen said in certain places. I believe he was just angry and he took out that frustration on the wrong person. Nothing more than that. Let's not forget that players are humans too and they can't always hide their feelings," defended Rivaldo.

"It's understandable that he's upset at his situation. Bale is a player who makes the difference in the big games, a top class forward. And of course, to have recently been used mainly off the bench - and even then, he still scores - it's normal he isn't satisfied with his role."
