"I am really happy where I am and hope I can retire here," Nacho said

The defender hopes to sign a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu soon

Nacho Fernández is the latest player to begin talks with Real Madrid over a new contract. The defender has become an important part of Zinedine Zidane's squad in the last 18 months due to his versatility in defence.

In an interview with Radio Marca, he said that "the renewal is on track. I am really happy here and I hope I can retire at Real Madrid." The canterano has a contract until 2021 and the last time he signed a renewal was in 2014. "I'm going to give everything for this shirt," he added-

Once signed, Nacho will join a long list of players who have signed a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu in recent months, including Isco, Marco Asensio, Marcelo and Dani Carvajal.

MESSAGE FOR PIQUE?

The Madrid defender was also asked about the insults and whistles aimed at Gerard Pique since he joined up with the Spanish national team at Las Rozas.

“It is not nice at all to train and play with a background of whistles,” Nacho said, who also added that he is "huge fan of Real Madrid and also of Spain so regardless of whether my club or national team win, I celebrate it equally, as a Madridista."
