Real Madrid's Gareth Bale, new year, old injury
The Welshman hurt his calf against Villarreal and is taking further tests
More of the same for Gareth Bale. The Welshman made of glass starts the year with a new injury. That's now his 22nd at Real Madrid and the eighth in his left calf. Sad. Santiago Solari said "he received a blow" during the 2-2 draw with Villarreal and was taken off at half-time.
It's the sixth game Bale has left before the end this season because of injury, really the seventh as on another occasion Bale was not removed as Solari had used all his changes.
The club have not revealed the extend of the injury. Bale has missed 84 games injured since arriving at Madrid, a season and a half effectively.
