The Croatian midfielder would be nearly 37 when the deal expires

Luke Modric has said that he wants to end his career with Real Madrid and now all that remains to be known is how much longer he will stay at the Bernabeu.

Modric turned 35 last month and is in the final year of his contract with Madrid, which expires on June 30, 2021.

His desire is to sign a new deal and the club are also open to that given his behaviour and performances since joining the club in July 2012.

However, as Modric is over 35, the club will only offer him a one-year deal. He's not the first in this situation, nor will he be the last. That is the club's posture, even knowing what he's given the club on the pitch -- and still gives them.

If he signs the deal, the Croatian international would commit his future to Madrid until 2022, when he will be 36 and just a few months away from 37.

It would also take him up to the next World Cup, which is set to take place in Qatar at the end of 2022.

We will see what happens because it's not an easy issue for Madrid, especially with Sergio Ramos also out of contract next summer.

Ramos will also be 35 by the end of the season but he is hoping for a two-year deal.
