Los Blancos have some wins but their squad is in tatters
Real Madrid travel to Bergamo to face Atalanta ahead of their Champions League last 16 first leg with fear. They have won four in a row in La Liga, against Huesca, Getafe, Valencia and Valladolid, but these teams are struggling this season. The Champions League is something else.
Zidane won’t get any of his injured players back for the game, it seems, so it’s his 10 outfielders from the first team, the goalkeepers and everyone else from the B team.
Their plan will be to survive the away leg to be able to go through at home in the second, when they might have more of their players back.
Their attack has struggled. Their best player is Thibaut Courtois, form-wise.
Casemiro, Modric and Kroos in midfield have been strong but they are playing every game and are exhausted.
Out? Carvajal, Ramos, Hazard, Benzema, Valverde, Rodrygo… and all this while Odegaard and Jovic are out on loan.
