The defender could not complete France's game against Iceland on Thursday

Real Madrid have begun to notice the effects of the FIFA Virus, with defender Raphael Varane only able to complete the first half of the game between Iceland and France due to physical problems.

France coach Didier Deschamps removed Varane at halftime, replacing him with Kurt Zouma, to avoid taking any risks. On Tuesday, Les Bleus face Germany in their third UEFA Nations League game.

The Madrid defender is a doubt for that game and could also be a loss for Julen Lopetegui after the international break, with league games against Levante and Barcelona sandwiching a Champions League match with Viktoria Plzen.

Varane, a World Cup winner with France, is a key part of Lopetegui's Madrid team. However, that's also true with France and Deschamps is waiting for the results of tests which the player will undergo on Friday.

Madrid are on alert, as they already have fitness issues over a number of players, like Carvajal, Isco, Benzema, Marcelo and Bale.
