The French striker is in the form of his career despite his age

Real Madrid have announced the renewal of Karim Benzema’s contract until June 2023. The Frenchman will stay an extra season at Los Blancos.

The striker, the team’s main man since Cristiano Ronaldo left, arrived at the club as a 21 year old and will leave at 35, if he doesn’t extend again. He’ll have been at the club a huge 14 seasons.

President Florentino Perez has rewarded the forward for the fine form he has shown, in the best moment of his career despite his age. However he still didn’t want to extend the deal by two years, like with Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos - the latter didn’t like it and left for PSG.

Marca suggest that he will go to Olympique Lyon once his Madrid contract is over.

Benzema is the club’s fifth highest goalscorer of all time with 281 goals in 560 games. He joined for 36m euros.
