Chelsea's Belgian star is a target for the European champions this summer

Eden Hazard is Real Madrid's alternative in the case that they can't sign Neymar. The Belgian player is one of their top targets as they look to strengthen their side this summer and they will move for him if it proves impossible to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar -- although Florentino Perez will keep trying to land the Brazilian even if he fails this summer.

Hazard is one of the players Madrid have been linked with for a long time. The player's father and agent, Thierry Hazard, reportedly informed Madrid after the Champions League final in Kiev that his son was stalling on renewing his contract with Chelsea, per Marca. Belgian outlet Le Soir confirmed that information, saying talks had stopped due to Los Blancos' interest.

RENEWAL OFFER

The Belgian international has made one condition to Chelsea: he wants the sporting project to be convincing if he is to stay. He wants to be competing for the Premier League again and back in the Champions League -- a competition Chelsea have not qualified for next season. Meanwhile, there's not clarity about who will be in charge, although it's likely to be Sarri, not Conte.

Hazard has a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2020 and Chelsea, according to the English press, have offered him 18 million annually to extend his deal.

If Madrid do sign him, it could be at the expense of Gareth Bale, as long as Cristiano Ronaldo remains at the club. The Welsh forward is not happy with his role at the club and his agent plans to hold talks about his future at the Santiago Bernabeu this month.
