Real Madrid left without Alvaro Morata for Madrid derby

More bad news for Zidane on the injury front as he loses the striker for a month

With just three days to go until the Madrid derby at the Vicente Calderon between Real and Atletico, Zinedine Zidane has lost another player to injury.

The French coach has had to deal with injury problems throughout the season and on Wednesday afternoon he lost Alvaro Morata.

The club confirmed: “Ater tests carried out on our player Álvaro Morata at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital prior to the training session held today, Wednesday, he has been diagnosed with a grade 2 muscle injury in his right hamstring. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

Usually for this type of injury a player is absent for around one month.

Morata played for Spain against England for half an hour on Tuesday night, but was unexpectedly unable to train upon his return to Madrid on Wednesday due to the muscle injury.

Karim Benzema was also unable to train with the group, neither were Casemiro or Pepe, while Raphael Varane and Dani Carvajal worked in the gym after their exertions with their national teams.
