Zidane's hopes of mounting a comeback have been hit by two injuries

Real Madrid's hopes of turning around their first-leg defeat against Manchester City in the Champions League have been dealt a blow with the news of two injuries.

Thibaut Courtois and Marcelo will both miss the game in England next week as Madrid attempt comeback from a 2-1 first-leg defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Both players join forward Eden Hazard on the sidelines, starting on Friday when Madrid host Eibar behind closed doors due to the spread of coronavirus.

Marcelo will be out for three weeks with a hamstring problem, while Courtois is likely to be out for around two weeks with a muscle problem in his left leg.

Ferland Mendy will take Marcelo's place at left-back in the Los Blancos side, while Courtois will be replaced by French goalkeeper Areola.
