The club prefer that the Brazilian continues in his role as an ambassador

Former Real Madrid and Brazil left-back Roberto Carlos has revealed his intention to return to coaching and commented that he had spoke with Madrid about being a coach, but for the moment they'd prefer him as an ambassador.

"I've already spoken with the club, but they don't want me [coaching]. They've said that for the moment my image goes well with being an ambassador," Roberto Carlos confessed to a small group of journalists, among which was EFE, after a press conference in Pekin to present some of the Real Madrid Foundation's projects in Asia.

The Brazilian explained that he's still monitoring Real Madrid Castilla's training sessions, which are taken by the Argentine Santiago Solari, and the Juvenil sessions, which are overseen by Guti, and added: "When I have the chance to get back on the pitch [coaching], I will do. For now, I'll continue as an ambassador. I'm happy."

Before returning to Madrid, the club where he spent more than a decade as a player, Roberto Carlos had worked as a coach with Anzhi Makhachkala, Sivasspor, Akhisar Belediyespor and Delhi Dynamos.

Asked about the first team's situation, he feels the injuries to the likes of Casemiro, Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos shouldn't affect Zinedine Zidane's side too much as they are a "great team and the back up players are doing really well."

On the Ballon d'Or, he sees a clear winner: "I think Cristiano Ronaldo already has it, but hasn't said anything to anyone [laughs]. After the knee problem it's taken him a while to return to be Cristiano, but from the next game, as he's done with Portugal this week, he'll be the Cristiano we all know."
