Real Madrid confident of extending good run in Champions League draws

Los Blancos only fear a possible match against Juventus, with Arsenal & Leicester other possible rivals

Real Madrid expect luck to be on their side again on Monday, as it was throughout last season in the Champions League. With the draw for the last 16 to be made at midday, only one of their possible five rivals will likely give them much of a headache.

Juventus would frighten Zinedine Zidane and his players. The French coach's former club knocked Los Blancos out in the semi-finals two seasons ago and would provide stern opposition in the ties which will be played over two legs in February in March.

Madrid and Juve have met each other on several occasions, with the recent balance in the Italian's favour. They have knocked the European champions out three times in a row since the turn of the century.

GOOD MOMENT

However, Madrid will not fear any of the other rivals they could draw: Arsenal, Leicester, Monaco or Napoli. None of them have impressed on Europe's biggest stage in recent years.

Arsenal are in good form in the Premier League, second behind Chelsea, and may provide the biggest threat. The teams last met in 2005-06 when Thierry Henry's goal sealed the tie in the Gunners' favour.

Monaco don't hold good memories for Madrid, either. The only time they met in the Champions League, Madrid won 4-2 at home but lost 3-1 away (with Morientes and Giuly the scorers for the Ligue 1 side).

Madrid have never met Leicester in Europe and you have to go back to 1987-1988 for a game against Napoli. Los Blancos won at the Bernabeu and drew away to progress.
